Three-time GRAMMY Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir (12/2) comes to Merchant Hall all the way from South Africa with their inspiring program HOPE - It’s Been A Long Time Coming. Enjoy an exuberant night of African gospel, spirituals, reggae, contemporary pop, and seasonal favorites. This awe-inspiring ensemble has been singing for more than 20 years, and has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in entertainment, including U2, Stevie Wonder, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The American Festival Pops Orchestra (AFPO) returns for its annual Holiday Pops: Songs of the Season (12/9) under the baton of new Artistic Director and Conductor Peter Wilson, with all the classics you know and love, plus a few new musical treats. Don’t miss the world premiere of “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Mason Dewberry School of Music composition student Catherine Fields; “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” narrated by Dean and Hylton Center Executive Director, Rick Davis; “What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?” sung by guest artist Darden Purcell; festive tunes by Mason Jazz Vocal Ensemble, a guest appearance by Conductor Emeritus Anthony Maiello, and more!
