Mason Arts Board

Welcome! The Mason Arts Board supports every facet of George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, and the Board members genuinely believe that “the Arts Create Community."

Our Board consists of over 25 members from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area; our reach is broad and our expertise extensive. Our goal is to “expand opportunities for the development, presentation and appreciation of the arts and arts education within the region by appropriately linking the resources of the University and the community.” We work with over 200 area volunteers who support the arts, and our fundraising activities are significant: collectively, the College raised just over $8,737,000, in 2019. These time and treasure assets assist each CVPA academic discipline, the Center for the Arts, the Hylton Performing Arts Center, and the Mason Community Arts Academy. Our dedication is comprehensive.

CVPA artists serve every corner of the University. The College provides artistic support to a wide variety of university ceremonies, functions, and celebrations. The Center for the Arts serves as the venue for University related presentations and community gatherings. The Hylton Performing Arts Center and the Mason Community Arts Academy take great pride in serving area communities and veterans. The University’s executive leadership, Visitors and Trustees, and faculty realize how the arts are the gateway to the George Mason University, and how the arts contribute robustly to the advancement and excellence of our institution. The College and its Board members have developed partnerships with every other college at George Mason. Since its inception, CVPA donors and friends have planned, funded, and supported of the artistic growth of all George Mason students, faculty, and the surrounding communities.
