This month officially kicks off our 2019/2020 performance season and we couldn’t be more excited! September sizzles with the hot New York City jazz sensation The Hot Sardines (9/21) in an evening of brassy-tunes and smoky vocals. In October, renowned satirists The Second City (10/4) bring live sketch comedy and a night of laugh-out-loud entertainment to Merchant Hall. Jeffrey Siegel also returns with his popular Keyboard Conversations® concert with commentary in Spellbinding Bach (10/5). Classical virtuosos Matt Haimovitz (cello) and Simone Dinnerstein (piano) celebrate (10/13) Beethoven’s upcoming 250th birthday by juxtaposing this classical master with one of today’s most influential composers—Philip Glass—for a fascinating concert of “then and now.”
October closes with amazing feats of agility from Cirque Mei: Elite Circus Artists and Acrobats from the Hebei Province, China (10/24) and ushers in November with the vibrant, captivating Taj Express: The Bollywood Musical Revue (11/15), as well as Aquila Theatre’s dramatic adaptation of Homer’s epic, The Odyssey (11/24).
In addition to some of our Hylton Presents family-friendly performances, be sure to check out our Hylton Family Series fall line-up that promises an enchanting experience for the entire family. This popular series, designed to introduce young people to the performing arts, welcomes Lightwire Theater Company’s Moon Mouse: A Space Odyssey (10/6) with its visually stunning glow-in-the dark puppets, electro-luminescent wire, movement, and dance. In November, Circo Comedia (11/17) delights in an afternoon of tomfoolery including comedy, stunts, magic, and charming eccentricity in the tradition of the Quebec Circus.
We are also excited to bring back the popular American Roots Series for a third year of down-home concerts featuring bluegrass, blues, folk, country, and more. Tickets to these performances in the intimate Gregory Family Theater are selling fast so grab your tickets today! Learn More.
