Since 2014, the Hylton Performing Arts Center’s Veterans and the Arts Initiative has served as an arts and community hub for our local Veterans, Servicemembers, their families, and community members. Join us on Saturday, November 14 at 8 p.m. for Celebrating Veterans and the Arts: A Virtual Concert, featuring Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, celebrated duo on the American acoustic scene; Darden Purcell, Washington D.C.-based jazz vocalist and recording artist, joined by Mason Jazz faculty; and Voices of Service, a quartet of Veterans and Servicemembers who were finalists on America’s Got Talent (Season 14). This FREE, family-friendly concert has something for everyone and will be streamed simultaneously on our website, Facebook, and on YouTube at the scheduled time.
Check back on our website later this autumn for another fun Veterans and the Arts Initiative offering! Have you always wanted to try the ukulele? Stay tuned for information about upcoming virtual ukulele workshops with Glen McCarthy, guitar instructor at George Mason University. These teleworkshops will be FREE to Veterans, Servicemembers, their families, and military caregivers, as well as current healthcare workers. Musicians of all skill levels are welcome!
