Biography
Asma Omarzad serves as the Associate Director of Student Funding and Operations in the CVPA Student Academic Affairs office.
She began her Mason career in May 2010 as a Graduate Program Assistant and has grown into several roles over the years, including Coordinator for Graduate Programs, Graduate Programs Manager, Assistant Director for Graduate Affairs, and Associate Director for Graduate Affairs. Her experience at Mason reflects her strong commitment to supporting students and helping programs run smoothly.
Originally from Queens, New York, Asma later moved to Northern California, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from San Jose State University. She then relocated to the DMV area to pursue a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) with a concentration in Community College Teaching at George Mason University. Studying higher education while working in the field strengthened her interest in student support and university operations.
As a first-generation college graduate, Asma understands how life changing higher education can be. She has always had a passion for education and has helped many of her family members navigate the college process. These experiences continue to guide her work and her dedication to helping students reach their academic and professional goals.
