Biography
Joo-mee Paik, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of Computer Game Design at George Mason University Korea. She is an artist and educator with over twenty years of experience exploring the intersections of art, philosophy, and technology. She began her artistic practice with traditional media and earned her BFA in Western Painting from Seoul National University, where she developed an early interest in video art. She later completed an MFA in Electronic Integrated Arts at Alfred University, focusing on time-based and interactive digital media. In 2022, she received her PhD in Art Technology from Sogang University with the dissertation Embodied Future: Real-Time Generation of Future Video Using Deep Learning Methods for Interactive Media Art.
Prior to joining Mason Korea, she taught a wide range of courses—including Drawing, Digital Imaging and Video, Motion Graphics, Interactive Art, and Physical Computing—at multiple institutions. She has held seven solo exhibitions, including Entangled Timescape (2025), which presented her new VR artworks, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions both in Korea and internationally.
