Biography

Julie Thompson, Executive Director of the Center for the Arts at George Mason University, joined the university more than fifteen years ago after a career as a professional stage manager in regional theater and opera, including long-term residencies at Minnesota Opera, Washington Opera at the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap Opera, and Center Stage in Baltimore. At the university, she is responsible for the overall management of a multi-venue arts complex including a 2,000 seat Concert Hall, a 450-seat proscenium theatre, and several smaller “black-box” performance studio spaces, all of which serve the educational, professional, and community enrichment missions of the College of Visual and Performing Arts.  Julie also teaches in the graduate Arts Management program.  She holds a degree in theatre from Lawrence University.
