Biography
Minjoo Kim is an assistant professor in the School of Theater at George Mason University. She teaches lighting design, theatrical design, and technical theater. She is also an internationally working lighting designer who approaches design from dynamic and diverse visual perspectives.
Minjoo has designed lighting internationally, including in Spain, China, and Korea, as well as regionally at Signature, Shakespeare Theatre, Folger Theatre, Woolly Mammoth, Round House Theatre, Olney Theatre, Studio Theatre, Berkeley Rep Theatre, City Theatre, and Kansas City Rep. She is a proud member of United Scenic Artist Local 829. Her work, The Royale, was selected for the National Exhibit at the Prague Quadrennial in 2023.
She dedicates herself to bridging the gap between Asian culture and American theater. She believes this would produce a wealth of multiculturalism in our world.
