Biography

Reid Harward is a creative technologist and software developer whose work focuses on the design of human-centered AI systems. At George Mason University, he teaches digital design, mobile web development, and writing for designers, guiding students through the creation of functional, software-driven projects rather than speculative prototypes.

His practice centers on building AI-assisted tools and interactive platforms that integrate large language models, knowledge graphs, data visualization, and generative media. These systems are often deployed as browser-based applications, map-driven narratives, or custom design environments intended for education, civic information, and creative research.

Across teaching and independent work, Harward emphasizes explainability, system architecture, and interface design as essential components of responsible AI. His creative projects—many supported by regional arts and technology grants—frequently bridge software, physical production, and live public interaction.
