Will Waikart

Will Waikart began accompanying dance classes at Mason in the mid-2000s while studying music across the hall at the School of Music, where he earned his BA. After graduating, Will toured the US extensively with a diverse group of performing artists (Justin Jones, Typefighter, Junior League Band, and The Deadmen), all the while maintaining a full roster of private drum and percussion students. Early on, Will developed a passion for making records and began working as a recording engineer and producer while he wasn’t on the road. Will has accompanied dance masterclasses, intensives, and auditions for Mark Morris Dance Group, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Paul Taylor Dance, Parsons Dance, and many more. Additionally, Will is the modern accompanist for Hope Boykin’s Dance Lab summer intensive at The Kennedy Center. Working in dance has given Will the chance to combine his passion for education with his lifelong love of playing music.
