Applying is a Two-Step Process
The College of Visual and Performing Arts requires you to apply to George Mason University, submit a portfolio, and/or attend an audition or interview, as required by each academic unit.
Each program has a specific procedure for admissions, as well as some unique requirements - dependent on the type of student you are. Locate your program of interest in the Graduate or Undergraduate sections for more information, deadlines and scholarship opportunities.
Get Started Now
- Visit the campus and meet with your program of interest. Visit an Open House.
- Schedule an audition with the School of Dance, the Dewberry School of Music, or the School of Theater.
- Submit your portfolio to the Film and Video Studies Program or Computer Game Design Program.

- Even if you are not pursuing a major in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, there are many classes that satisfy the core arts or additional electives requirements.
Students in the School of Dance learn dance technique and intensive theory, and benefit from guest artist residencies and abundant performance opportunities. They have the option of earning a MFA in Dance.
