Mason Arts Amplified

Mason Arts Amplified is an online platform featuring curated arts experiences from Mason’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, the Center for the Arts and Hylton Performing Arts Center. It includes livestreamed events, releases of previously recorded content, behind-the-scenes talks with artists, and more.  The platform was originally launched as Mason Arts at Home.

The majority of Mason Arts Amplified content is hosted on a new Mason-exclusive website, powered by CineSend OTT. This platform gives you the opportunity to browse and upcoming livestreams and watch all pre-recorded content on demand. Register to watch here.

Yes! Any Mason Arts Amplified content on masonartsamplified.gmu.edu is separate from the College of Visual and Performing Arts, Center for the Arts, and Hylton Center websites. Therefore, it requires you to create different login and password credentials than you might have for your venue ticket account. Registration is entirely free and open to anyone. Register for Mason Arts Amplified.

Most Mason Arts Amplified programming is free of charge and accessible just by registering for the website. Some digital events will require paid access, which will be purchased directly through the Mason Arts Amplified platform.

To purchase paid access to Mason Arts Amplified digital events:

1. Register for a free account (this is separate than your patron account with the Center for the Arts and/or the Hylton Center). 

1. Find the digital event you’d like to purchase on Mason Arts Amplified. 

1. Purchase the digital event directly through the Mason Arts Amplified platform.* If you are purchasing in advance of a scheduled livestream, you will be emailed when the digital event is available to watch. 

*Note, patrons cannot purchase Mason Arts Amplified digital events through the venue Ticket Offices. Digital event access can only be provided on this website, with purchases only made online. Charges will be displayed as OTT*GMU. 

Each program will have a designated time it will be available online to be viewed. The duration it is available to watch or rent will be noted in the event description on Mason Arts Amplified. 

Most ticketed in-person events presented by the Center for the Arts, the Hylton Center, or the College of Visual and Performing Arts will have a set quantity of free student tickets available to attend the venue in person. Most paid digital Mason Arts Amplified events are livestreams or recordings of in-person events, and therefore it is encouraged that students use their free access to in-person events. Free student tickets for in-person events will be offered online through the Mason360 platform to any eligible Mason student beginning two Tuesdays prior to each event. For more information visit this website.

Yes, tips for how to watch digital Mason Arts Amplified events on streaming devices such as Chromecast and smart TVs, can be found on the Mason Arts Amplified help website on Vimeo. 

Please note, Mason Arts Amplified will not stream through a downloaded Vimeo App. Users must login to your free account through a web browser to watch content. 

In-person event tickets are paid on a separate system that is not connected to the Mason Arts Amplified platform for digital events. You may exchange your in-person event ticket for account credit to other eligible in-person events with the venue Ticket Office. Patrons may not exchange an in-person ticket for a digital event. Please purchase digital access to Mason Arts Amplified paid events with your credit card separately. 

Content is made available through this streaming service for a limited amount of time. If your event is still available to watch and you are having trouble accessing it, please review Mason Arts Amplified’s help/troubleshooting info.  
 
If your event is no longer available, please contact the CFA Ticket Office. Please note that this email account is only monitored during Ticket Office hours. Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This Mason Arts Amplified Viewer Terms of Service (“Terms of Service”) is between you whether personally or on behalf of an entity (“you”) and George Mason University (for the purposes hereof, “Mason,” “we” “our”, or “us”), a public institution of higher education and agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Terms of Service constitutes a legally binding agreement and governs your use of the “Mason Arts Amplified Service,” (the “Website”), an online platform that allows consumers like you to learn about us and view video programs of performances, concerts, lectures, etc. (referred herein as “Program” or “Programs”).

By accessing this Website, and all its features and content, including making any purchases, you acknowledge and agree that you have read and understand these Terms of Service, are at least eighteen (18) years of age, and wish to be bound by these Terms of Service as set forth herein. If you are not at least eighteen (18) years of age or if you do not agree with these Terms of Service, then you are expressly prohibited from using the Website and you must discontinue use immediately. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to make changes or modifications to the terms of this Terms of Service at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the “Last updated” date of these Terms of Service, and it is incumbent upon you to read the Terms of Service each time the Terms of Service is updated, and irrespective of whether you read the updated Terms of Service, you agree to be bound by the updated Terms of Service whenever you access the Website after the Terms of Service is updated.

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account. We reserve the right to suspend, revoke, or terminate your account for failure to abide by the Terms of Service or for any reason at any time, in our sole discretion and you agree we shall have the right to take appropriate administrative and/or legal action, including criminal prosecution, to protect our interests.

User Account Registration. You must create an account to view the Programs. To do so, you must provide an email address. Once you create an account, you will obtain a user ID and password (“Profile”). By creating an account, you agree to receive notices from Mason at this email address.

Account Security. You agree not to allow any third party to use your Profile to access the Website and to safeguard the information that would allow another person or entity to access the Website by using your Account. You agree to be responsible for your failure to safeguard your Profile information and/or to allow any other person or entity to access the Website by using your Profile or otherwise by using your Account. If you become aware of unauthorized access to your account, you must change your password and notify us immediately. In addition, no part of an account may be transferred or sold to another party by you. You agree that Mason shall not be liable for any loss that results from the unauthorized use of your account, either with or without your knowledge.

Tickets. Tickets to the Programs are offered for sale through the Website. In the event you wish to purchase any of the Programs available, you will be asked by Mason or an authorized third party on Mason’s behalf to supply certain information to us, including without limitation, your full name, address and credit card information. You agree to provide us or such third party with accurate, complete and current information at all times, and to comply with the terms and conditions of any ancillary agreement that you may enter into which governs your purchase of such Programs. You shall be responsible for all charges made under your Profile as well as for paying any applicable taxes.

Payment. Your right to view the Programs that are available for purchase through the Website is conditional on our receipt of the appropriate payment for such Program. To make a purchase, you must provide a valid payment method. We may apply taxes, including VAT (value-added tax), to any charges. Prices and other terms of purchase are subject to change. If such payment cannot be charged to your credit card or if a charge is refunded for any reason, including chargeback, you agree that we reserve the right to cancel your Program purchase and/or suspend or terminate your account.

Risk of Loss. You acknowledge and agree that your only remedy for failures, delays or interruptions with respect to the ordering of and delivery of the Programs ordered by you through the Website is limited to a refund for such products, in Mason’s sole discretion. If the Programs ordered or viewed by you through the Website were provided or offered free of charge, you acknowledge and agree there is no remedy for any failures, delays or interruptions with respect to such free of charge Programs. 

Program Descriptions. We attempt to be as accurate as possible in describing the Programs (including pricing) offered for purchase through the Website; however, we do not warrant that all such descriptions are complete, current or error-free.

Refunds. ALL PURCHASES OF PROGRAMS ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE.

All rights not expressly granted by Mason are reserved.

License to Programs: Subject to the terms hereof, you have the right to stream for your personal entertainment purposes: (i) Programs that you have purchased for the stated availability period; (ii) Programs made available within your account.

Restrictions: You may not resell streams, use any Program for any commercial purpose, redistribute or retransmit any Program, publicly perform or display any Program, or make derivative works from any Program. All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved by Mason.

Intellectual Property. All content contained on the Website, including but not limited to video, clips, photographs, text, graphics, logos, icons, images and software (collectively, “Content”) is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws and treaties of both the United States and other countries. You have no right to use our name or Website name or any of George Mason University’s trademarks, logos, domain names, or other intellectual property or proprietary rights. Any third-party trademarks, service marks, logos and other intellectual properties are the property of their respective owners. No content of the Website may be sold, copied, altered, reproduced or distributed without prior written permission, which we may withhold for any reason. Any reproduction, modification, distribution, transmission, republication, display or performance of the Content contained on the Website is strictly prohibited and it is for your own personal, non-commercial use only. Any further rights not specifically granted herein are reserved. If you use Content appearing on the Website contrary as set forth in the Terms of Service, you may be liable for infringement, misappropriation or other causes of action to the fullest extent of the law.

You will not:

• Except as authorized by law or as permitted by us: scrape, reproduce, redistribute, create derivative works from, decompile, reverse engineer, alter, archive, or disassemble any part of the Mason Arts Amplified Service; or attempt to circumvent any of our security, rate-limiting, filtering, or digital rights management measures;
• Submit any malicious program, script, or code;
• Submit an unreasonable number of requests to our servers; or
• Take any other actions to manipulate, interfere with, or damage the Website.

In using the Website, you may not:

• Access another’s account without permission;
• Use an offensive screen name (e.g., explicit language) or avatar (e.g., containing nudity);
• Act in a deceptive manner or impersonate any person or organization;
• Submit rhetoric or engage in behavior that:
  • Is sexually explicit or promotes a sexual service;
  • Is defamatory;
  • Is harassing or abusive;
  • Contains hateful or discriminatory speech;
  • Promotes or supports terror or hate groups;
  • Contains instructions on how to assemble explosive/incendiary devices or homemade/improvised firearms;
  • Exploits or endangers minors;
  • Depicts or encourages self-harm or suicide;
• Engage in any unlawful activity; or
• Cause or encourage others to do any of the above.

You understand and agree that your use of the Website is entirely at your own risk and that our services are provided “As Is.” We do not make any express or implied warranties, endorsements or representations of any kind whatsoever as to the operation of the Website, or as to the information, content and materials contained therein. Without limiting the foregoing, we hereby disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and warranties that access to or use of the Website will be uninterrupted or error-free or that defects in the Website will be corrected, or that the server from which the Website is accessed is free from viruses, worms, Trojan horses, or other harmful components. We assume no responsibility for, and shall not be liable for, any damages or expenses you may incur as a result of any inaccuracy, incompleteness or obsolescence of any information contained in the Website. All services and programs described on or through the Website are subject to availability and are subject to change at any time. If you access the Website from outside the United States, you are responsible for compliance with foreign and local laws.

You understand and agree that we shall in no event be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or exemplary damages relating to the Website. This shall include, but not be limited to damages for loss of profits, business interruption, business reputation or goodwill, loss of programs or information or other intangible loss. The above limitation shall apply whether or not we have been advised of or should have been aware of the possibility of such damages. You agree that no joint venture, partnership, employment or agency relationship exists between you and us as a result of this Terms of Service on this Website. Irrespective of the preceding terms, you understand and agree that Mason’s maximum potential liability is limited to the purchase price you paid for the Program or Programs at issue. 

The Website may include hyperlinks to third-party content or Websites. You acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for and do not endorse any information, advertising, products or resources available from third-party content or Websites. We will not be responsible for the illegality of, or any error in accuracy in, any third-party content, information, materials or Websites.

You expressly understand and agree: (a) that these Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia; and (b) to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia, County of Fairfax, to resolve any legal matter arising from or related to your use of the Website. If the court of law having jurisdiction rules that any provision of these Terms of Service is invalid, illegal or unenforceable, then that provision will be removed from the Terms of Service and the remaining terms will continue to be valid.

Entire Agreement

You understand and agree that this Terms of Service constitutes the entire agreement between you and us with respect to the Website. These Terms of Service supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals, whether electronic, oral, or written between you and us with respect to the Website.

Sovereign Immunity

The Website is owned and operated by George Mason University, an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Nothing herein in these Terms of Service shall be construed as a waiver of the sovereign immunity of the Commonwealth of Virginia, George Mason University and their employees and agents.
