  • Justin Sutters

    Assistant Dean of Research and Assessment, CVPA. Associate Professor, Art Education and Director, Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT I), School of Art, CVPA

    Dr. Sutters was a K-12 art educator in an urban school district for seven years and also taught for two years in São Paulo, Brazil. He completed his undergraduate and masters degree from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, attained his doctorate degree from the Ohio State University receiving national recognition for his dissertation.
  • Jocelyn C. Tafalla

    Adjunct Faculty, School of Art, CVPA

    Jocelyn Tafalla was born and raised in the DMV metropolitan area. She holds two degrees from George Mason’s School of Art & Design; Bachelor of Arts, 2010 and Master of Arts, 2019, both with a concentration in graphic design.
  • Erwin Thamm work

    Technical Assistant Manager, CVPA

    Erwin (Elmo) is an artist, printmaker, photographer, and video editor. He traveled extensively with his military family before settling in the Washington, D.C. area.

  • Luis Vasquez La Roche

    Assistant Professor, School of Art, CVPA

    Luis Vasquez La Roche is an artist and educator that resides between Trinidad and Tobago and Virginia. They hold an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. Their practice is interested in aspects of the transatlantic slave trade that repeat themselves in varying ways in the present.
  • Paloma Vianey Martinez Acosta

    Adjunct Faculty, School of Art, CVPA

    Paloma Vianey Martinez Acosta is an interdisciplinary artist from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico who currently lives and works in Washington D.C. Her work explores the vulnerabilities and violence of her community and narrates her experience crossing the U.S.-Mexico border daily, questioning the political corruptness of this division.
  • John von Bergen

    Assistant Professor of Sculpture and Expanded Fields, School of Art, CVPA

    John von Bergen was born in Connecticut. He earned his B.F.A. Degree with Honors from School of Visual Arts in New York City. After relocating to Berlin, Germany in 2003 his work has been exhibited in various international museums, galleries and institutions, including Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Galerie Schmela in Düsseldorf, Pera Museum in Istanbul, and Smack Mellon in New York.
  • Brandon Wallace

    Brandon Wallace’s artistic passion lies in telling stories through drawing and painting. Wallace holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from The Maryland Institute College of Art and a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration from Syracuse University.

    Gail Scott White is a new media scenographer and animator who collaboratively makes “Live Movies,” a hybrid art form that interactively synthesizes animation and cinematic art, and theatrical and musical elements with built environments and live performance.
  • Cristian Wicha

    Adjunct Faculty, School of Art, CVPA

    An award-winning industrial designer, woodworker, photographer, and sculptor from the D.C. area Cristian Wicha has been designing furniture for production for the past 25 years.
