    Erik Thor Sandberg (b. 1975, Quantico, VA) lives and works in Washington, D.C. Sandberg is known for his masterful oil paintings of the human figure and landscape. Creating inventive imagery ranging from panoramic to intimate, Sandberg pushes the skillful illusionism of master painting to the contemporary edge of Magic Realism.

    May Santiago is an emerging film scholar and micro-budget filmmaker. Her work focuses on themes of intersectional identity within mental health, queer identity, and decolonization.

    As a proud CVPA alumni with a BA in Theater from George Mason University, Alaina brings her teaching experience, project management, and event coordination strengths to MCAA and manages the organization's year-round classes and summer programming as Director of Programs.

    Alaina graduated Magna Cum Laude from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater in 2012. Having previously worked with Mason Community Arts Academy as Coordinator of Private Music Lessons, Alaina now joins us as Coordinator of Programs & Registration supporting MCAA’s year-round classes and summer programming.

    Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Patrick Sargent joined the military at age 17 to become a U.S. Air Force security policeman. In 2002, after twenty years of service, he prepared to retire from the military, and while completing his degree in political science an entry-level printmaking class changed his trajectory.

    Adrian Scalzo is the Classroom Technology Supervisor  for the College of Visual and Performing Arts. He received his BFA in Sculpture from George Mason University and has been working with the Tech Team since 2019.
