    Praised for her “natural expressiveness” (Montpelier Times Argus), Dr. Jessica Powell Eig has crafted a dynamic and varied career performing on double bass, violone and viola da gamba.

    Praised by the Pizzicato Magazine as “enchanting,” Taylor Ann Fleshman is an award-winning soloist and active ensemble performer with a diverse performance history. Prof. Fleshman performed the world premiere of Mosolov’s Harp Concerto with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in Russia and recorded the work with Naxos Records in 2019

    Gerald Fowkes, cellist and conductor, is a graduate of Louisiana State University where he graduated summa cum laude in Cello Performance.

    Katie Franke, tenor trombonist, is the newly appointed adjunct applied trombone professor of George Mason University’s Dewberry School of Music, effective Fall 2024 semester. In October 2023, Katie Franke commenced her role as the first-ever female trombonist and low brass player in the history of the “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. As a member of “The President’s Own,” she regularly performs at ceremonies and concerts at the White House, as well as around the D.C. area and throughout the United States.
  • Jeremy Freer

    Senior Associate Director of Green Machine Ensembles, CVPA

    Jeremy Freer is Administrative Faculty and is Associate Director of Green Machine Ensembles and works closely with Dr. Glenn Smith with the Music and Wellness program. He has taught Music in Motion Pictures, Popular Music Arranging, Jazz History, and Brass Techniques for the School of Music and teaches student arrangers, acoustic groups, photobombing techniques, and rock bands for the nationally acclaimed Green Machine.
  • Robert Gillam

    Director of MUSIC TECHNOLOGY and COMPOSITION, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Dr. Gillam is an active educator, having taught at several higher-education institutions across the United States. His primary areas of interest are in music technology, composition, sound design, commercial music and music for media.
  • Emily Green

    Faculty Fellow for Curricular Innovation, CVPA

    Dr. Emily H. Green is a historian of musical culture and enjoys writing and teaching a across a variety of perspectives. In scholarship, her interests focus on Europe and the United States from 1750–1850, especially: publishing, performance practices, enslaved music making, women’s participation, celebrity, and Atlantic musical exchange.
  • Jesse Guessford

    Founding Director of MUSIC TECHNOLOGY and COMPOSITION, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Jesse Guessford received a BS in music education from West Chester University, a Master of Music in music composition from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, and a DMA in music composition from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 
  • Eunae Ko Han

    Term Assistant Professor of Music, Collaborative PIANO, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Dr. Eunae Ko Han, Term Assistant Professor in Collaborative Piano at Mason, has previously served as an adjunct opera coach and collaborative pianist in vocal studies at George Mason University since 2014.
  • Soo Han

    Director of ORCHESTRAL STUDIES, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Dr. Soo Han is the newly appointed Director of Orchestral Studies at the Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music at George Mason University. He is also the Music Director of the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Board of Directors of the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic.
