    Dr. Yoonji Kim, pianist, currently teaches keyboard skills and is a member of the applied piano faculty at Mason. Born in Seoul, Korea, Dr. Kim moved to United States of America at age fifteen to study.
  • Edward Knoeckel

    Adjunct Faculty, MUSIC IN FILM, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Edward Knoeckel is a composer, pianist, music educator and conductor. As an educator, he has developed curriculum for community summer arts programs, public education, as well as having held university and college faculty positions in music theory, American music history, music for dance, music for motion pictures, as well as performance practice.
  • John Kocur

    Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies, SAXOPHONE, Jazz Workshop, Jazz Studies, Jazz History, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Saxophonist, composer, and educator John Kocur is Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at George Mason University. He previously taught at Northern Virginia Community College where he directed the NOVA Nighthawks Jazz Ensemble. He serves as a saxophonist with the 257th Army Band of the D.C. National Guard, “the Band of the Nation’s Capital.”

    Megan L. Lavengood, Ph.D. is Associate Professor and Director of Music Theory at George Mason University. Her research primarily deals with popular music, video game music, timbre, synthesizers, and recording techniques.

    Anthony J. Maiello is Professor of Music and University Professor at George Mason University. Professor Maiello teaches applied lessons in Conducting, Aural Skills, and classes in Instrumental Conducting.

    Kevin C. McDonald, Ph.D. is a passionate musicologist and an acclaimed jazz drummer. His performance credits include Dave Liebman, Mark Turner, Paquito D’Rivera, Miguel Zenon, Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, and Lee Konitz in international venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, The White House, The U.S. Library of Congress, The Midwest Clinic, the Jazz Education Network, and Bimhuis.
