  • John Healey

    Adjunct Faculty, PIANO and AURAL SKILLS, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Dr. John Paul Healey has served on the piano faculty of George Mason University’s School of Music since 2004.  Since then he has performed with students, faculty members and as a soloist in most of the performance venues on campus.  He has been included as an annual faculty presenter in GMU’s Piano Pedagogy Seminars since 2009.
  • June Huang

    Director of STRINGS, Associate Professor, VIOLIN, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Prof. June Huang is the Director of Strings and Associate Professor of Violin at the Dewberry School of Music. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in applied violin, chamber music, and string pedagogy.
  • John Jansen

    John C.L. Jansen is an active composer, multi-instrumentalist, luthier, author, recording engineer, and teacher of music technology and music theory, based in Takoma Park, Maryland.
  • Mark Jenkins

    Adjunct Applied Faculty, EUPHONIUM, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Dr. Mark Jenkins began his musical studies on the euphonium at the age of 11 in his home state of Nevada. During his early studies, he was awarded top honors at state, regional and international solo competitions, including the Nevada Governor’s Scholarship to attend the prestigious Interlochen Fine Arts Camp in Michigan and 1st prize at the 1996 Leonard Falcone International Tuba and Euphonium Competition.
  • Christopher Jewell

    Adjunct Faculty, BASSOON, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Christopher Jewell is the Assistant Principal Bassoonist of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra.  An active performer in the Washington, DC area, Mr. Jewell also regularly performs with the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, Post Classical Ensemble, Wolf Trap Opera Company, and the Chesapeake Chamber Orchestra. 
  • Dr. Laura Kaufman Mowry in red dress holding flute

    Dr. Laura Kaufman Mowry is a soloist, orchestral, and chamber musician who has been hailed by the Washington Post for “absolutely gorgeous flute-playing.” Dr. Laura Kaufman Mowry is a newly appointed adjunct applied flute professor of George Mason University’s Dewberry School of Music, effective Fall 2024 semester.
  • Yoonji Kim

    Adjunct Faculty, KEYBOARD SKILLS and PIANO, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Dr. Yoonji Kim, pianist, currently teaches keyboard skills and is a member of the applied piano faculty at Mason. Born in Seoul, Korea, Dr. Kim moved to United States of America at age fifteen to study.
  • Edward Knoeckel

    Adjunct Faculty, MUSIC IN FILM, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Edward Knoeckel is a composer, pianist, music educator and conductor. As an educator, he has developed curriculum for community summer arts programs, public education, as well as having held university and college faculty positions in music theory, American music history, music for dance, music for motion pictures, as well as performance practice.

    Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies, SAXOPHONE, Jazz Workshop, Jazz Studies, Jazz History, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Saxophonist, composer, and educator John Kocur is Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at George Mason University where he directs the Jazz Workshop and teaches jazz history and improvisation. He previously taught at Northern Virginia Community College. He serves as saxophonist with the 257th Army Band of the D.C. National Guard, “the Band of the Nation’s Capital.”

    Dr. William L. Lake, Jr. is the Director of Concert Bands at the Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music at George Mason University.
