CVPA faculty

Paul is an Illustrator, cartoonist, painter, and university professor who applies his skill and sense of humor to a wide breadth of venues. He holds a BFA in Illustration from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and an MFA in Illustration from the University of Hartford.

Nataliya has been teaching college-level students at NOVA and privately for over 20 years. She has established a Pre-College Art Portfolio small business and has been preparing students for art school admissions with a great success.

Kathleen Patricia Durkin is a multidisciplinary artist, born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She uses printmaking, video, and installation art to ask: What don’t we talk about when we talk about “Land?” 

Jocelyn Tafalla was born and raised in the DMV metropolitan area. She holds two degrees from George Mason’s School of Art & Design; Bachelor of Arts, 2010 and Master of Arts, 2019, both with a concentration in graphic design.

Jessica Pilar Rodríguez was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After graduating high school, she moved to the United States in order to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.

Jennifer Sakai is a fine art photographer, professor and curator who resides in Washington D.C. She received her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Fine Art Photography, and her BFA in design from Lesley University in Cambridge Massachusetts.

Heather Streckfus Green’s poetry collection No Other Rome (2021) was published in the Akron Poetry Series. Her poems have appeared in Bennington Review, Denver Quarterly, Everyday Genius, the New Yorker, and elsewhere. She’s the author of the chapbooks No Omen and The Match Array.
