CVPA faculty

Stephanie Benassi is a conceptual artist working primarily with photography. She uses photographic images and processes to conceptually engage the contradictions, limitations, and material conditions inherent to the photographic medium.

Dr. Lisa Billingham is the newly appointed Director of Choral Activities at George Mason University, effective Fall 2021. She will be directing the University Chorale and the University Singers, and will teach choral conducting and related classes. She continues as an active member of the University Faculty Senate.

As an Adjunct Faculty Member of Mason's School of Dance, Kelly has taught advanced ballet, gen ed ballet and modern, and Dance Appreciation 101.

Nolan's Specialties include: Real-time MIDI, Alternate Controllers, Digital Audio, Sound Design, Game Audio, Music Composition and Desktop Music Production.

Jeremy Freer is Administrative Faculty and is Associate Director of Green Machine Ensembles and works closely with Dr. Glenn Smith with the Music and Wellness program. He has taught Music in Motion Pictures, Popular Music Arranging, Jazz History, and Brass Techniques for the School of Music and teaches student arrangers, acoustic groups, photobombing techniques, and rock bands for the nationally acclaimed Green Machine.

Laurel Dunayer has been with George Mason University since 2006 as Costume Shop Supervisor for CVPA. Laurel received her MFA in Theatre-Costume Design from the University of Illinois, then moved to NYC to work in Broadway costume shops.

Dr. Linda Apple Monson, International Steinway Artist, serves as the Director of the School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University. A Distinguished Service Professor, Monson was awarded The John Toups Presidential Medal for Excellence in Teaching at George Mason University’s 2018 Spring Commencement Ceremony.

Mary Del Popolo’s specializations include drawing, painting and mixed media, with expertise in color pedagogy. Prior to her position in the School of Art, Del Popolo was a faculty member at the Corcoran College of Art and Design and Howard University’s Fine Arts department...

Cynthia Fuchs (PhD, University of Pennsylvania, 1989) is the interim Director of Film at Mason (CVPA) and Associate Professor of English (CHSS), as well as a faculty member in African and African American Studies (AAAS) and Sport and American Culture; she is an Executive Committee member for Women and Gender Studies (WGST).

Bridget Higgins has served as Operations Coordinator at the Dewberry School of Music since 2014. Her duties in this role include managing student recitals, scheduling applied lessons, managing recordings, working as staff liaison with music student organizations, and coordinating day-to-day operations in the school.
