    Dr. Elizabeth Alman joined the School of Theatre Faculty at Mason in 2015, teaching theatre performance courses, coaching Voice, Speech, Text and Dialects for Mason Players’ productions, and serving on the Faculty Committee for Mason’s Gateway Auditions and Interviews for prospective freshmen and transfer students. She enjoys mentoring students in their pursuit of career opportunities beyond Mason. This fall, she looks forward to serving as a committee member on a student’s Master’s Thesis Performance.

    Assistant Director of Vocal Studies/Soprano, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Noted by the Boston Globe for her “intensely lyrical” singing, soprano Elissa Alvarez is an equally enthusiastic interpreter of recital, concert, and operatic repertoire spanning early music to works of the twenty-first century.

    Adjunct Professor of Music (Music Education and Aural Skills), Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Angela Ammerman, referred to by the Washington Post as the first “music teacher prodigy,” earned degrees in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati: College-Conservatory of Music, Boston University, and her PhD from George Mason University. Featured in the Tennessee Alumnus Magazine in 2019 for founding a strings program for orphaned children in Thailand, Dr. Ammerman has dedicated much of her musical career to providing access to quality music education for underserved populations of children in the United States and across the globe.

  • Anna Balakerskaia

    Professor (Piano and Chamber Music), Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Dr. Anna Balakerskaia is a “consistently thrilling pianist” (Judy Gruber, Washington Post) whose expression “wells with a delightful freedom,” (Robert Dumm, Clavier) and whose sound “is warm and deep.” (Elaine Fine, American Record Guide) Indeed, the legendary Russian violinist and conductor, Viktor Tretyakov, writes this about Dr. Balakerskaia: “A unique, almost extrasensory feeling of ensemble, excellent pianism, a radiant personality – that is [Anna] Balakerskaia!”

    2016, BM Music Education

    Ocie is the Vocal & General Music teacher and chorus director at Rosaryville Elementary School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland where he is building a music program and assisting his colleagues to incorporate Music and the Arts into the daily curriculum. Rosaryville Elementary school is one of the arts-integration schools within Prince George’s County.
