    Director, Latin American Ensemble, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Juan Megna is a drummer/percussionist from Argentina who has lived for 12 years in Brazil where, in 2008, got his degree in Brazilian Popular Music at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Campinas, SP).
  • Patricia Miller

    Director of VOCAL STUDIES, Professor, OPERA (Mezzo-Soprano) and Artistic Director of the Mason Opera Theater, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Patricia Miller is an Internationally acclaimed operatic and concert mezzo-soprano.  She is also a highly respected voice teacher and Music Educator. A University Professor, artist-teacher and master class clinician, her talent and commitment to opera education has taken her all over the world.
  • Linda Monson

    DIRECTOR, Dewberry School of Music; Distinguished Service Professor, Director of KEYBOARD STUDIES, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Dr. Linda Apple Monson, International Steinway Artist, serves as the Director of the School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University. A Distinguished Service Professor, Monson was awarded The John Toups Presidential Medal for Excellence in Teaching at George Mason University’s 2018 Spring Commencement Ceremony.
  • Kathleen Mulcahy

    Director of WOODWINDS, CLARINET, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Kathleen Mulcahy was appointed as Director of Woodwinds and Assistant Professor of Clarinet at George Mason University in August 2018, after serving as Adjunct Professor of Clarinet since in 2012. She performs frequently with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and the National Symphony.
  • Shane Nickels (Michael Nickels)

    Adjunct Faculty, Marching PERCUSSION, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Shane Nickels is a percussionist specializing in rudimental and orchestral percussion. Shane currently serves in The United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps as a snare drum instrumentalist and as Adjunct Faculty at George Mason University.

    Serving as Director of Campus Life Ensembles and Collaborative Arts, and as an Associate Professor of Music, Dr. Michael W. Nickens (a.k.a. Doc Nix) is most recognized as the leader of the “Green Machine”, which in 2015 was named the #1 pep band in college basketball by the NCAA and commended by the Senate and House of Delegates of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

    Joanna Owen joined the George Mason Music Faculty in the fall of 2019. She received her Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory and her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the Eastman School of Music.

    Dr. Tom C. Owens is Associate Professor and Coordinator of Music History and Literature at George Mason University.  Internationally regarded as an expert on Charles Ives’s life and music, he is the editor of Selected Correspondence of Charles Ives (Univ. of California Press, 2007) and a member of the board of the Charles Ives Society.
